Kampala International University is a fast growing private university in Uganda with the requisite infrastructure. Kampala International University's Western Campus [KIU-WC] is situated on about 70 acres of land in Ishaka, Bushenyi district along Mbarara –Kasese Road in Western Uganda. That’s about 300 kilometers west of Kampala the county’s capital. This spacious campus was opened by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda on 01 November 2004. The University's Faculty of Clinical Medicine and Dentistry (FCMD) is located at the western campus.The faculty started as a School of Health Sciences (SHS) at the Main Campus of KIU at Kansanga in Kampala City in 2003. The school was trans-located from the Main Campus in Kampala to the Western Campus at Ishaka. Following the translocation, the school expanded by starting the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (BNS) degree programmes, and the Diploma in Nursing Sciences (DNS) programmes. Others include programs in Education, Business and Management, biomedical sciences and Information Technology. With this academic expansion, the university has continued to be a centre of academic excellence in Africa region.

VISION OF FCMD
To become academically, the best School of Health Sciences in Africa South of the Sahara and have its graduates sought after by any Health Services Authority the world over.

MISSION OF FCMD
To develop centers of excellence within the SHS in disciplines such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry and others which will enable the school to realize its Vision.

OBJECTIVES
1. To pursue excellence in teaching and scholarship
2. To have staff and students fully involved in relevant research
3. To develop community oriented programmes implemented through community Based Education, Research, Management and Services (COBERMS).
4. To produce graduates who are practical competent well informed, efficient self-reliant and capable of functioning in and contributing effectively to the development efforts in rural and urban areas in the world.

We have a well fledged KIU teaching hospital under the public private partnership and satellite centres in South Western Uganda. These centres have initiated our medical students in clinical orientation and community based service.
