The Mexican School of Medicine of La Salle University, was the first Private Institution of Medical Education in Mexico City, and like La Salle University itself, it was born due to the need for a new and fresh space for the training of professionals, thus, by decision of the then rector, Dr. Guillermo de Alba López, the school was established on March 8, 1970.
In 1972, the first clinical fields were incorporated at the General Hospital of Mexico: Pulmonology and Ophthalmology, at the CMN November 20: Cardiology, Hospital Fernando Quiroz ISSSTE: Otolaryngology. In 1973, courses began at the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital of the IMSS National Medical Center, Gastroenterology at the London Clinic, Dermatology at the General Hospital of Mexico and the Dermatological Center Pascua, Legal Medicine in the Forensic Medical Service of the PGJ, Endocrinology at the La Raza Medical Center, Neurology at CMN November 20, Psychiatry at Fray Bernardino Álvarez SSA Hospital, CMN La Raza Infectology and finally Gynecology and Obstetrics at the IMSS General Obstetrics Hospital, Pediatrics at the General Hospital of Valle Ceylán and Urology at the CMN of the IMSS
The Mexican Faculty of Medicine is engaged in the training of ethical and responsible professionals, through the generation of border knowledge and strengthening, as part of the group of Schools and Faculties of La Salle University, promotes medical professionals with a solid academic and humanistic training in the development of their talents. Able to provide new and enriching solutions to the challenges of the local and global environment in full commitment and dedication to service with their peers and especially with the most disadvantaged to build a more just society.
